What is electronic smoking?

Electronic smoking or e-smoking is a method of nicotine delivery that operates by inhaling on an electronic smoking device which upon inhalation activates an atomizer which creates a vapor to be inhaled.

What type of electronic smoking devices are there?

Electronic smoking devices currently on the market consist of mini or cigarette style, pen style, e-cigars and e-pipes.

Is electronic smoking safe?

While nicotine itself has not been found to be a cancer causing compound it does have well documented addictive properties. It can also have adverse effects if improperly ingested and therefore should be kepy away from children and pets. On the other hand the vapor consists of water, propylene glycol a common food additive and flavoring. All of which are safe for human consumption and in widespread use.

Is electronic smoking exempt from the smoking ban?

Technically yes electronic smoking would be exempt from any smoking bans since it emits water vapor and not smoke. Agencies such as the FAA have given the green light to electronic smoking devices to be carried within airports and planes but have not made a statement regarding the smoking of such devices in airports or on aircrafts. In other public venues while it may no be smoking, establishments and individuals will have mixed reactions to it and ultimately have a final say if it will be allowed in their places of business or not.
